Even with seated meditation, or simply sitting, if there's time, I do it in conjunction with breathing.
As a basic principle, I move in one direction every 2-3 breaths. When I say "breathing," it means that when inhaling, I move it backward, and when exhaling, I move it forward. I combine this with 2-3 sets of breaths. So, for 2-3 breaths, I focus on inhaling while moving it backward, and then, similarly, for 2-3 breaths, I focus on exhaling while moving it forward. The number of repetitions is not strict, so if it stops moving, I switch directions.
I haven't really been taught this by anyone specifically, but I do it as follows:
▪️From the space between the eyebrows to the back of the head, backward.
・Exhale: Quickly.
・Inhale: Long, focusing on moving it backward while pressing on the focal point. It's important to actually move it properly. Imagine a ball of energy moving slightly from the space between the eyebrows to the back of the head (if it doesn't move at all, it might be too early to do this).
If it's still in the middle, continue to the next breath.
・Exhale: Quickly.
・Inhale: Same as above, continue from where it left off.
If it stops moving, switch directions.
If it seems like it's still going to move, continue similarly.
・Exhale: Quickly.
・Inhale: Same as above, continue from where it left off.
▪️From the back of the head to the space between the eyebrows, forward.
・Exhale: Long, focusing on moving it forward while pressing on the focal point. The same caution applies as above.
・Inhale: Quickly.
If it's still in the middle, continue to the next breath.
・Exhale: Same as above, continue from where it left off.
・Inhale: Quickly.
If it stops moving, switch directions.
If it seems like it's still going to move, continue similarly.
・Exhale: Same as above, continue from where it left off.
・Inhale: Quickly.
When I do this, the area around the space between the eyebrows and the back of the head, and even the Vishuddha area in the throat, becomes relaxed, and various parts become loose. The cheeks also relax. Then, the energy reaches the Anahata area in the chest, and the overall energy of the body increases slightly.
■Specific changes, signs
There's a "popping" sound, like a "tapping" sound, that comes from inside my head repeatedly. In response to that, the energetic movement gradually improves.
Although this method itself is a trial and error, the basic concept is similar to what is written in yoga, theosophy, or brotherhood-related books. For example, in yoga, there is a technique where, during meditation, one visualizes the prana, or life energy, entering and exiting from the space between the eyebrows, which opens the Ajna chakra (third eye). (This is just one technique, but that's the key point). Other books describe imagining a straight pipe from the space between the eyebrows to the back of the head, and repeatedly moving energy back and forth through that pipe to open the third eye. I have used these descriptions as a reference while doing this.
To be honest, I have been trying similar things for quite some time, but I haven't been able to get a sense of it working properly. Although it sometimes works, I often feel like the car wheels are stuck in ruts and can't move, and then it takes time to get it moving again. I feel like I have to meditate for a while and concentrate on that area to get it moving again, which makes it difficult to progress.
This time, although there are still some obstacles, the frequency of encountering those "rut" obstacles has decreased. In the morning, when I just wake up, it tends to be closed, but after meditating and trying again, it moves to the area between my eyebrows and the center of my head in a few breaths. Although it doesn't quite reach the back of my head yet, I feel that the movement is becoming easier overall.
The more I do this movement, the more the various parts of my head relax, and the stiffness in my throat is also relieved. The relief of the stiffness in the throat's Vishuddha chakra corresponds to a slight widening of the energy channel, and as a result, the prana (energy) that enters from between my eyebrows is becoming easier to flow down through the throat's Vishuddha chakra to the heart's Anahata chakra. It wasn't that it hadn't flowed through before, but I feel that the amount of energy entering my body is increasing as the flow gradually improves.
In a certain book, it is written that nothing happens until the 99th time, and then a dramatic change occurs on the 100th time. In my case, although I don't yet have the feeling that the Ajna chakra is completely open, I think there is some energy movement.
This time, I received this kind of inspiration at each place I visited during my trip.
- At Mount Kensan in Tokushima, I felt a sense of oneness with the earth.
- During the Awa Odori experience in Tokushima, I felt an energetic change in my body through the movements.
- At the Kojo-do hall in Kata, Wakayama, I felt energy between my eyebrows.
- At the Daidenpo-do hall and the Komyoden hall in Negoro-ji Temple, Wakayama, I felt energy between my eyebrows after sitting there for a short time.
- I received a very grateful and powerful energy from the Fudo Myoo statue housed in the Daigan-do hall in Kiisai-ji Temple, Wakayama, which I felt between my eyebrows.
- Near the main hall of Hase-dera Temple in Nara, I felt energy between my eyebrows.
- At Hasedera Temple in Nara, I felt energy between my eyebrows.
- At Horyu-ji Temple, Nuka-no-miya Temple, Horin-ji Temple, and Hoki-ji Temple in Nara, I felt energy between my eyebrows.
- At Yakushi-ji Temple in Nara, I felt energy between my eyebrows.
In reality, once energy flows to the area between the eyebrows, the location becomes less of an issue. I have been meditating in various places, such as on trains and benches, moving the energy in the area between the eyebrows. For some reason, in certain places, the energy felt like "cat hair that is agitated," which was not conducive to meditation, so I avoided meditating there. However, during this trip, there were relatively many places where I could meditate peacefully, and I felt that I could enter a meditative state and perform energy work in the area between the eyebrows, even without sitting in a cross-legged position.
■ Focusing on the area between the eyebrows during meditation resulted in a slight lightning-like sensation near the crown of the head.
Furthermore, unexpectedly, while focusing on the area between the eyebrows and the back of the head, I felt a slight lightning-like sensation near the top of the head, which seemed to improve the flow of energy not only in that area but also in various parts of the head (although to a lesser extent).
Location:
・Near the crown of the head, slightly to the right of the hairline.
Changes:
・The flow of energy slightly improves.
・The amount of subtle energy flowing to other parts of the head slightly increases.
As a result, I feel that changes are occurring throughout the head, although they are subtle.
