There are many people who think about spirituality in terms of wanting to make things easy, wanting a shortcut in life, or wanting to gain something. However, using spirituality for such immediate, worldly benefits is not the orthodox path.
The true path of spirituality is to gain the strength to face work and difficulties, and to be able to perform work with joy. This is often expressed with the word "zone." In a state of the zone, one is filled with joy and focuses on work, experiencing a sense of flow. This is accompanied by a feeling of emotional upliftment and a deep understanding of the work. It also brings a feeling of gratitude for being alive and a (temporary) release from worries.
In the zone, one is also freed from distractions, and the mind becomes clear (even if only temporarily), leading to a joyful experience.
Even if it is temporary, by repeatedly entering the zone, it gradually changes from a temporary state to a permanent sense of flow. This permanent sense of flow gradually gives rise to a joy that goes beyond emotions.
The initial zone is based on emotions, involving joy and understanding of the subject. This is a blissful moment that comes once a year or every few years while working diligently.
As one continues to work diligently and becomes more skilled, the frequency of these moments increases. One may be able to enter the zone once a month, or even once a week. Eventually, one may be able to enter a temporary zone every day.
At this point, the emotions associated with the zone gradually subside, and the sense of specialness diminishes, while the mind gradually becomes calmer. As if to replace this emotional high, a calm and constant sense of bliss gradually increases.
When this constant sense of bliss almost completely replaces the initial emotions, every day's work becomes filled with bliss, and the mind is (relatively) clear, leading to very high work efficiency.
At this point, even though it may be called a zone, it has already become a part of daily life, and the term "zone" gradually disappears, and one simply enjoys the work.
This zone is the foundation of meditation. While it is the initial stage of meditation, the presence or absence of this foundation greatly affects the depth of meditation. Many people may find that they cannot deepen their meditation no matter how much they practice it if they do not know about the zone. When someone who knows about the zone meditates, they can easily enter a deeper state of meditation, whereas someone who does not know about the zone may still be unprepared and be distracted by extraneous thoughts.
While spirituality may seem to offer quick and easy worldly benefits, the most direct path to success is often the one that seems the most straightforward.
