It can also be said as "letting go" or "releasing attachment." Here, the consciousness refers to Atman or Brahman, which, according to Vedanta, permeates everything in this world, and of course, also within matter.

The Atman, which is consciousness inseparable from matter, cannot literally be separated. However, what is meant by "releasing" from the attachment here is to release the ego from its connection with matter, which is also what is meant by eliminating avidya (ignorance) in Vedanta, or ignorance in Buddhism.

It can be said that this is releasing the connection between the ego and matter, and on the other hand, it is also the beginning of the Atman's consciousness, which is originally separate from matter and free, to manifest. In Buddhism, spirituality, or Vedanta, it is often said that the consciousness of Atman is covered by avidya (ignorance) in ordinary people. However, this ignorance is not so much covered as it is connected.

While Buddhism describes it as "covering," Vedanta and spirituality seem to have both explanations, but rather emphasize the explanation of "severing the connection" or "letting go."

In reality, "connection" seems to be more accurate. Indeed, it may appear as if it is "covered," but in reality, it is a connection.

This world appears to be a material world as if it were real, but that is because the consciousness of Atman permeates this world, is deeply connected with matter, and the consciousness of Atman connects with matter, creating the ego, which is actually a non-existent "self" (ego, the consciousness of Jiva), and as a result, Jiva perceives (misinterprets) this material world as real.

On the other hand, from the perspective of Atman's consciousness, this world has existed from the beginning, and the world has not been born nor will it cease to exist; it is a universal world. The consciousness of Atman is originally filled within matter, but it is more free than the consciousness of Jiva.

When the consciousness of Jiva releases or lets go of its connection with this world, which is an illusion, the consciousness of Atman manifests and becomes free. This is also what is called moksha (liberation) in Vedanta.
