Actions for two gods.

There are also two types of "actions for the sake of God."

Obligations imposed by the scriptures. These are performed in accordance with the will of God, with the purpose of realizing God, achieving God's love, or for God's joy, and also with the purpose of offering worship to the Lord's image, etc. Another form of worship is prayer and meditation. These are performed only for God, and while they appear to be related to God, both are included in "actions for God."

Both of these types of actions are referred to in the Bhagavad Gita as "Matkarma" (XI.55) and "Madartha-Karma" (XII.10).

What has been described as exclusive devotion (VIII.14, 22; IX.13, 14, 22, 30, 34; X.9; XIII.10; XIV.26) also includes two types of actions, which are expressed by the words "Bhagavadarpaņa" (action offered to God) and "Bhagavadartha" (action for God). The realization of God, which is the fruit of all these, is the same.
