Recently, I visited a chiropractor and had them examine the asymmetry in my face. They said that the area where the neck connects to the back of the skull is fused, causing the skull to shift slightly backward. After the first session, there was some improvement, and it moved more freely than before. The chiropractor said that it should improve significantly after a few more sessions. I hadn't been concerned about that area before, so I felt a significant effect even after the first session. I will continue to go.
I think that simply trying to relax the head with conscious effort through meditation takes time. I have also received head massages in the past, but I haven't recently. This time, I received the chiropractic treatment after my head had already become somewhat relaxed, which I think made it easier for energy to flow.
Both chiropractic treatment and meditation are necessary. The energy didn't flow immediately with just chiropractic treatment, but I think the chiropractic treatment prepared the body for the energy to flow. This is similar to yoga, but in yoga, this area is not directly stimulated. There is a headstand, but that puts pressure on the back of the head, not pulling it apart. In head massages, the basic technique is to press, not to pull.
This "pulling" motion was quite new to me, and it felt quite intense during the treatment. However, after the treatment, I realized that I had been compressing that area for a long time, which caused tension and stiffness in my shoulders. And I now realize that the stiffness in my shoulders and hands caused physical imbalances, which in turn transmitted to my head, making it even more stiff. First, the physical imbalances were somewhat corrected, and then, in the next session, my head was adjusted and "pulled" to release the tension.
Looking back at my life from childhood, I often tend to overthink the causes of things, and I tend to think that the cause lies in my mental state, personality, or way of thinking. I was influenced by those around me, evaluated, and made to feel like "I am the cause," as if something was wrong with me. Now, I realize that I didn't really need to feel that way. As a result of having the tension in my head released through chiropractic treatment, I now realize that the cause was often simply the tension in my body and muscles. When I mistakenly attributed these physical causes to mental, spiritual, or psychological reasons, I realized that in most cases, the cause of the problem is in the body.
Indeed, the spiritual concept that "all causes originate from oneself" has a certain truth to it. However, in modern society, this phrase has become a means of instilling guilt, manipulating others, silencing them, scaring them, and serving as a marketing and advertising slogan to sell products or services. While the original meaning of the phrase may be true, when ordinary people start using it, it quickly becomes a means of making money. This time, I happened to receive a treatment that had a positive effect, but I don't know if the same effect will be the same for others. It may have been a coincidence. It may also vary depending on the individual's condition.
In my case, the improvement in this area led to movement in the back of my head, and particularly, the energy channel connecting from the back of my head upwards, which is the Sushumna in yoga, seemed to become thicker, and the flow of energy improved, especially in the upper part of the back of my head. This was a very positive experience for me, but I don't know if it will be the same for others.
Some people may immediately think that everyone will experience the same results from this treatment, but I don't think so. Rather, I believe that the physical treatment improved the physical condition, which was the cause of the discomfort. There is a close relationship between physical condition and energy, and if the physical condition improves, the energy improves, so in that sense, the energy flow improved and the amount of energy increased, but it was not a direct cause, but rather an indirect result.
From a marketing perspective, there is a tendency to exaggerate these effects, and some people may do so. However, by doing so, spirituality may be seen as increasingly suspicious, and ordinary people may become alienated. Therefore, I do not want to jump to conclusions about the cause and effect relationship and present a multi-stage, indirect causal relationship as if it were a direct causal relationship. However, in the world, there are many people who make such claims. It is an era like that.
In summary:
- Most of the discomfort I experienced since childhood was caused by physical issues. Many things that I thought were caused by mental or spiritual factors were actually caused by physical issues.
- By receiving chiropractic treatment, adhesions and distortions in the back of my head and body were resolved, which led to movement in various areas. My mind also became more relaxed.
- As my mind became more relaxed, it became easier for energy to flow into my head during meditation.
- I detected an increase in energy, particularly in the posterior part of the Sahasrara (crown chakra), located above the back of my head.
Although my mind is not completely relaxed yet, it is gradually getting better, so I have no choice but to continue. Therefore, I am diligently continuing meditation to release tension in my mind by channeling energy into it. In addition to that, I occasionally receive holistic treatments that address physical issues such as muscle adhesion in my head, which I consider as a supplement to meditation.
