If you don't study diligently, you will be swayed by words like "You are a god."

In spiritual or occult-focused schools, or those that emphasize magical techniques, such things are often mentioned in the fundamental doctrines. In schools that focus on appearances, these things may not be properly studied, or people may overlook them and be misled by the apparent occultism and magic. As a result, people are often swayed by statements like "You are God," which can lead to inflated egos and arrogance.

Specifically, this refers to seminar instructors who, like the recent "10x Aura" promotion, threaten people by saying, "If you don't take this seminar, you will never grow spiritually." While not all organizations are like this, at least, such organizations create the conditions for producing seminar instructors who make such misunderstandings. They probably teach, at least superficially, what "I" is and what "God" is, but I don't think they teach it properly. Therefore, people get "excited" by statements like "You are God," or they casually make statements that stir up the ego, such as "You are also God."

To those who understand, this is a completely different story. If someone is even slightly happy by the words "You are God," it means that their ego is reacting, and they don't understand it properly.

The meaning is that God is fullness, which is Sat-Chit-Ananda in Vedanta, and is also space itself, and is eternal, and is the existence of consciousness, which is Atman (the true self) or Brahman. And at the same time, it is the true self.

Occult-focused schools often misinterpret these concepts, creating the illusion that the ego is God, thereby pleasing the ego and making it excited. In reality, this only expands the ego, and the ego is simply mistaken and happy.

In reality, the true self is eternal, has existed long before the emotional ups and downs of the ego, and is a fullness of consciousness that will never disappear. Therefore, it has nothing to do with such excitement.

Of course, when one actually enters samadhi and feels the consciousness of Atman, one experiences bliss. However, the bliss that comes from using occult or magical techniques, or from being cleverly persuaded, is not very related to the fundamental bliss.

The path of spirituality is a long and arduous one. Sometimes, beautiful flowers bloom along the roadside, making the journey more enjoyable. However, occultism and magic are just that – a superficial understanding. The essence lies much deeper.

It is best not to take statements like "You are God" or "I am God" too seriously. In some organizations, they teach that "you can do anything." This is also a misleading statement. These organizations often teach in a way that seems to suggest that the ego can do anything, accelerating self-esteem, vanity, and selfishness. However, if one studies properly, such statements would not arise.

"You can do anything" means that Atman is full and is eternal consciousness, so whatever one does, it is enveloped in the consciousness of Atman, and everything is in the palm of God's hand. However, if one does not understand this and the ego acts arbitrarily, one will accumulate terrible karma and suffer the consequences.

For example, Vedanta eventually talks about Atman, but before that, it emphasizes that karma in this world will return to oneself. It is only when one attains Samadhi and becomes aware of Atman that one is not affected by karma. In this sense, it can be said that Atman can do anything, but if one is not Atman, one will only receive the consequences of one's actions.

In any case, statements like "You are God" that inflate the ego are often misunderstood and are basically incorrect. Most people who have not attained Samadhi are not God, so it is better not to make such easy mistakes.

Indeed, Atman (or Brahman) is "the whole," and since humans are included in this whole, it is true that humans are God. However, even so, humans will receive karma in proportion to what they do. If one does whatever one wants, one will inevitably receive a corresponding punishment. This is only natural.

Seminar instructors who can confidently teach "You are God" without truly understanding themselves are likely experiencing the Dunning-Kruger effect and are at the first stage of overconfidence.
