In ancient secret societies, an initiation ceremony was performed, and it is still passed down in classical traditions such as yoga. It is a fairly well-known secret, and by studying spirituality and secret societies and growing spiritually, one naturally begins to see it.
On the other hand, yoga also mentions chakras, and the correspondence between them can be difficult to understand.
I also had difficulty understanding the correspondence until recently, but I think the following understanding is correct. This is my current understanding, so it may actually be different, and it may also vary depending on the school of thought.
First, the awakening of chakras or kundalini occurs in each realm, and there are mainly kundalini as a physical energy, and kundalini in higher dimensions. The first thing that happens is the one closest to the physical body, but at this point, the chakra awakening is also a lower dimension, specifically, the astral and emotional realm.
And, the initiation (depending on the school of thought) generally consists of 7 stages, and the first stage corresponds to the heart (Anahata) chakra. This corresponds to the awakening of the Anahata chakra, which is close to the astral dimension of emotions, and it seems to correspond to the state of being able to connect with and recognize the astral realm, which is a world close to the material world where emotions and other things are mainly manifested.
This is explained in detail in "Initiation" by Alice Bailey, pages 122-128.
The second initiation corresponds to the awakening of the throat chakra (Vishuddha chakra), and it involves learning to control the mental body (the next level after the astral body). At this stage, one can begin to understand the overall picture of what is called "truth."
▪️The relationship between the third initiation and safe psychic abilities.
The third initiation corresponds to the crown chakra (Sahasrara chakra) at the top of the head.
In this stage of initiation, it is said that there is no such thing as "climbing up to the Ajna chakra first, then returning to the Anahata chakra, and then climbing up again," as is said in some yoga schools and traditions, but I think that reaching Sahasrara, including all of that, is the stage of the third initiation.
And, according to that book, in many cases, several reincarnations are necessary between the first initiation and the second initiation. This is understandable, and it seems that mastering the astral realm requires skill and takes time to develop.
If the basic principle is that one cannot proceed to the next stage until one can skillfully handle the astral realm, then one must accept that it will take time. When I trace the memories of other fragments of the soul that I belong to, there are many places where this seems to be the case.
When people talk about initiation, they often refer to receiving a ritual from someone, but in the case of chakra awakening, this is not always the case. I have experienced the Anahata awakening, which seems to correspond to the first initiation, and the Vishuddha awakening, which seems to correspond to the second initiation. I probably haven't yet reached a state that corresponds to the third initiation.
According to the book, "It is neither necessary nor wise to develop comprehensive abilities such as clairaudience or clairvoyance until one receives the third initiation." However, it says that after the third initiation, when the physical body is purified, the astral body is stabilized, and the mental body is controlled, one can use psychic abilities safely and wisely (p. 126).
Whether or not one receives an initiation, I understand that in order to reach a state that corresponds to these stages, it is necessary to thoroughly practice "zazen meditation" and advance the purification process. There is a consistent view across ancient traditions that this stage and psychic abilities are linked.
Technically, in the stages before this, there are techniques such as "aura merging" to obtain information from others, but such techniques are unrelated to true spiritual growth and, rather, hinder growth. What seems to be true is that by reaching this stage, one can obtain stable and safe psychic abilities.
