Churning of the Ocean of Milk (Samudra Manthan) - Creation myth.

There was a sage named Durvasa.
One time, Indra, riding on an elephant, passed by. Durvasa picked flowers and made a garland for Indra, offering it to him.
Indra accepted the garland and then placed it on the elephant's head. The reason for this was to show that he had no ego, but the elephant rejected it and dropped the garland. In Indian mythology, the elephant is a symbol of "truth." The elephant saw that Indra had ego deep down, so it dropped the garland.
Seeing this, Durvasa felt insulted and cursed Indra. Durvasa was a very powerful sage, so all the gods were cursed as well.
As a result of this curse, the gods lost control (dominion) over the three worlds: heaven, earth, and the environment surrounding them.
Since the gods could no longer control the world, demons began to rule instead.
The gods asked Vishnu how to proceed. Vishnu replied as follows: "To regain control, the gods and demons must cooperate to churn the ocean. Then, the god Dhanvantari will appear with an elixir in his hand. By drinking a single drop of that elixir, you will be able to defeat the demons and regain control of the three worlds."
The gods put this into action. The demons readily agreed to cooperate, as they also coveted the elixir. The gods and demons surrounded a mountain with a giant serpent, with the demons holding the head and the gods holding the tail. They pulled on the serpent, churning the ocean.
The mountain collided with the bottom of the ocean, and began to grind the earth like a screw.
They needed help, so they asked Vishnu for assistance. Vishnu transformed into a turtle and submerged in the ocean, carrying the mountain on his back.
Then, the gods and demons again held both ends of the giant serpent and churned the ocean. Just as cheese is made from milk, churning the ocean caused it to transform into various substances.
The first thing to emerge was poison. This poison threatened to destroy all three worlds. Therefore, Shiva took the poison in his hand and swallowed it. Various other things emerged as the gods and demons churned, but the last thing to appear was Dhanvantari, holding the elixir.
Both the gods and the demons desired the elixir.
The gods thought, "We can obtain the elixir."
The moment the demons saw the elixir, they lunged for it. Their bodies acted faster than their thoughts, and they snatched the elixir. However, after that, the demons began to quarrel over who would monopolize the elixir, and no one was able to drink it.
The gods again asked Vishnu to help them. Then, Vishnu transformed into a very beautiful woman and appeared before the demons. She tempted them, saying that she would give each of them a single drop of the elixir if they would give her the elixir. The demons agreed, and the woman handed over the elixir.
According to the woman's instructions, the gods and demons lined up, and she gave each of the gods a single drop. Just before she was about to give the elixir to the demons, the woman disappeared. The demons realized they had been tricked. One of the demons noticed this and reached for the elixir, and then two drops of the elixir fell. (There are various versions regarding this part.)

The meaning of this story.

In this story, Durvasa is you. We get angry at the punishment from the gods. And sometimes, we curse the gods. When we curse the gods, they lose control of the three worlds.
Those three are: body, mind, and consciousness.
When the gods lose control, demons take over.
The demon is your ego.
The god is your higher self, your wise self. Your soul. Your eternal self.
The three, "body, mind, and consciousness," are under the influence of either the demon (ego) or the god (higher self, Purusha, soul).
The god's consciousness within us leads us to a path of harmony.
The demon's consciousness leads us to a life of disharmony.
When we curse the gods, the demon begins to determine its own actions.
Therefore, we become worn out physically and mentally.
To regain control, we must churn the ocean. The ocean is consciousness. When we churn consciousness, the first thing that comes out is poison. Negativity, pain, anger, etc.
If we continue to churn our own consciousness, eventually, Dhanvantari with the elixir will appear. He is the healer within each person.
After the elixir appears, the demon gets it first. The demon will use the elixir for itself. Eventually, a charming god will appear before the demon. The demon will think it has been promised eternal happiness. The ego is deceived.
And then, the ego begins to harmonize.
You will relax in eternal harmony. For harmony, the ego must disappear.
Ultimately, you will feel a sense of oneness with all beings.
We know that we are beings enveloped in light.
This is what is taught in yoga and Ayurveda.
This story is your own story, and we are all on this journey.
