Professor Honsan often says that experiences in the astral dimension involve colors, shapes, and smells. On the other hand, the Karana dimension is said to have fewer colors.
In the astral realm, experiences are vivid and can be pleasant or unpleasant, with emotional ups and downs. In the Karana dimension, however, a greater, purer feeling is experienced.
As a supplement, Professor Honsan uses the term "Karana," but the Sanskrit pronunciation is "Karana," and they are the same thing.
If we connect this to personal experiences, the state of unity (samadhi) in the astral dimension, which is similar to entering "the zone" and experiencing the joy of merging with the "object," seems to align with this description. The joy that arises when one achieves a certain level of focus in work or hobbies can be considered an astral form of unity.
On the other hand, more spiritual experiences are said to be even purer and more pristine, feeling like a white light.
In terms of content, it seems likely that this is not a simple two-stage process but rather a more hierarchical one. I feel that I am gradually approaching the Karana dimension, and I have now moved beyond emotions, which I have been gradually leaving behind. I feel that I am now reaching a state where I am finally "free" from them.
The Sahasrara chakra sometimes opens fully, and sometimes it does not. When the Sahasrara is fully open, one can maintain a state of consciousness "above the clouds" without being swayed by emotions. Perhaps the space within the clouds is the astral world, a world bound by emotions and joy, while the space above the clouds is the transparent Karana world.
The Sahasrara serves as a criterion. If the Sahasrara is properly open, one can fly low above the clouds in a state of purity. Sometimes, one may even enter the clouds, but through meditation, one can return to the space above the clouds and enter a quiet world again.
Even though consciousness has ascended to the Karana dimension, there are not significant changes in the physical body. While Professor Honsan's writings mention various psychic abilities, I do not have any of those. However, it seems that in order to reach the next stage, the powers and abilities of the Karana dimension may temporarily disappear. Therefore, it may not be something to worry about. In yoga, the basic principle is not to seek abilities, so it is said that it is not a problem even if one does not have abilities. It is necessary to learn how to use abilities, as they will appear normally in the early stages of reincarnation. Eventually, one will abandon those abilities and move on to even higher dimensions.
