How do you judge a person's personality, spiritual level, or enlightenment based on observing them?
Building on the previous discussion about the importance of learning practical aspects even within spirituality, perhaps the following explanation might be helpful:
- Beginners in spirituality often project themselves onto others, seeing their own qualities in them. They might perceive others as less spiritual, but this is simply a projection of their own selves. As a result, they often mistakenly believe that almost everyone around them is less spiritual than they are, leading to a sense of superiority. Of course, this is not the truth. This can be attributed to the Dunning-Kruger effect.
- Intermediate spiritual practitioners also tend to project themselves onto others. As a result, they may feel that everyone around them is enlightened, and that they are the only ones who haven't reached enlightenment. This is also a misperception of reality.
- Advanced spiritual practitioners, depending on their level, can often assess others based on their aura or spiritual energy. However, as the old saying goes, "you can only understand things up to your own level." They understand that they can only comprehend what they themselves have experienced, and they are aware of their limitations.
- In the physical world, people who don't think much often behave similarly to spiritual beginners, projecting themselves onto others and making arbitrary judgments. Such people are common and can be troublesome. Some people may have been misled by such arbitrary judgments, leading them to develop false self-images and wasting a lot of time.
- On the other hand, people in the physical world who think carefully often use clear criteria to categorize others. They often recognize that their own feelings are unreliable and rely on objective criteria instead.
These different aspects represent stages of growth, and combining them can lead to more accurate judgments.
For example, combining the perspective of an intermediate spiritual practitioner with strong analytical skills in the physical world allows one to recognize that even if everyone seems enlightened, that may not be the reality. For spiritual beginners, knowing about the effects of projection can help prevent arrogance and provide a check on the development of a sense of superiority. Even for advanced spiritual practitioners, relying solely on intuition can be difficult, and they can use certain clues or hints to make judgments.
At that time, the fundamental thing is logical knowledge and judgment skills that are useful in modern society, such as in companies. Having the ability to think logically properly makes it less likely to be deceived by strange things.
Another example is the use of negative words in spirituality, such as "absolutely not ⚪︎⚪︎." In mathematical proofs, proving "something exists" is relatively easy because you only need to provide one example. However, proving "nothing exists" requires covering all possibilities, making the proof very difficult. Proving completeness is also difficult, and even if you can classify it, you have to prove it individually for each MESI. In mathematical problems, this is still possible, but proving "nothing" in a vague statement in spirituality is almost impossible. In that sense, for example, there are spiritual instructors in this world who use phrases that are almost like threats, such as "If you don't take this seminar, you will absolutely not grow." That is a disqualification for a spiritual instructor, and the fact that they say such things without being able to prove whether it is actually true makes them untrustworthy.
Indeed, there may be cases where someone who can truly foresee the future says so. However, even in that case, possibilities are infinite, and what is currently visible only shows the current possibilities. It does not mean that something that is not visible as a current possibility is truly impossible. Even if the possibility is extremely small, it is not zero.
The instructor is also, in a sense (meaning they are being pushed by a higher authority), a victim. However, the participants who are lured into taking expensive seminars by such hype are truly victims.
Such things can be avoided, not to mention inappropriate statements, if you have a certain level of normal education. This is not a matter of whether or not it is spirituality.
In any case, I think it is necessary for everyone to have a certain level of normal education.
Therefore, stories like "The world will become one where spirituality manifests reality, so studying is useless (because it's education for slaves)" are unreliable. Whether or not it is spirituality, normal education is always necessary to train thinking skills and develop judgment. You don't have to do it through normal studies; some people train it in their daily lives. However, I personally think that training through normal studies is actually faster for developing thinking skills.
