It is necessary to study what the goal is. Otherwise, you may end up mistakenly thinking that you have reached the goal somewhere along the way.
Sometimes, a certain degree of silence deepens, and you may experience a feeling of "laziness" along with a feeling of "not knowing what to do," and a sense of emptiness. And because this state is also filled with a certain degree of silence and bliss, it often feels as if you have reached the goal.
In reality, this is a situation where the silence has not yet reached its peak, and you have not yet reached oneness or the true self (Atman). In such a state, the inner tools are not yet purified.
And when you speak to your "higher self" (or what you think is your higher self), or your guardian spirit, or your guide (as you imagine), you will receive an "answer that sounds right." This is truly clever, and it can lead you to misunderstand that your higher self or guide is actually answering you. And then, you may mistakenly believe that you have achieved your goal.
In reality, this may contain some truth, and even in such a state, purification is progressing to some extent, so sometimes the true and correct truth may come to you. However, the accuracy is still low.
There is something called true channeling, which is a method of contacting and communicating with other consciousnesses. However, in this case, you may conveniently interpret it as if you are in contact with your higher self. In reality, the true guardian spirits or guides may use this feeling to insert some true information, but even then, the accuracy is still low.
When you study yoga or ancient teachings, you learn that the goal is not something that can be achieved through such channeling. In a situation where you are told to decline even if you are invited by God, you should not be distracted from the true goal.
There are many stories out there about people who become excited about learning techniques or being able to do "channeling" (as they imagine), and mistakenly believe that they have achieved spiritual growth, only to realize that they have simply become more conceited and their ego has become stronger.
Instead, it is better to steadily pursue the goal without being distracted until the silence deepens and you reach oneness.
By the way, in yoga and other practices, it is taught that images and imaginations that appear during meditation are not important. On the other hand, there are schools of thought that use these images as "signs" to determine the level of progress at that point, depending on the quality of the images. However, in either case, these are temporary phenomena. When energy accumulated in the chakras and various parts of the body is released, it may or may not be accompanied by some kind of experience.
If you haven't studied, you might mistakenly believe that this experience is important. However, if the goal is clear, you won't be distracted along the way.
