In a state of enlightenment, all past lives are revealed and can be seen repeatedly. However, if someone has memories of past lives without being enlightened, it suggests that there are unresolved issues or lessons that need to be learned in this life.

However, having memories of past lives doesn't necessarily mean there are unresolved issues; sometimes, it's simply a matter of remembering.

Having memories of past lives is not necessarily superior, nor is it a problem if one doesn't have them. Whether or not one has memories of past lives is irrelevant to the learning process in this life. It's more of a personal preference, and different spiritual guides may have different approaches. Some may choose to bring back memories, while others may prefer not to. Some may do it selectively, while others may do it unconsciously.

For beginners, memories of past lives may be less frequent, or they may struggle to distinguish between memories and imagination. It's best for beginners to experiment and find what works best for them. Even for experienced individuals, memories of past lives may come and go depending on their relevance to their current life lessons. Sometimes, they may simply remember or forget things, just like ordinary memories from their past.

Those who are sufficiently enlightened can consciously access memories of past lives and even glimpse the future. However, even without enlightenment, some people may simply have memories of past lives. In most cases, memories of past lives tend to resurface repeatedly due to unresolved issues.

It's important to remember that having or not having memories of past lives is not a problem.

In yoga, memories of past lives are described as "samskaras," or subtle impressions. These samskaras are what drive the cycle of reincarnation, and by purifying them, one can attain enlightenment and liberation. Some yogic traditions also describe the ability to see past lives as a psychic ability that develops with enlightenment. These concepts are also found in Buddhism, and the teachings are quite similar. In reality, memories of past lives are not always viewed positively in yoga.

Personally, I don't think it's necessary to demonize memories of past lives. Some people have them, and that's simply a part of their life, just like childhood memories. Some people may dwell on their childhood or past lives, preventing them from fully living in the present. However, others may use these memories as a source of reflection and improvement, making their current life better.

If memories of past lives are beneficial to one's current life, one may remember them or be guided by their spiritual guides. Conversely, if these memories are hindering one's progress, they may be suppressed. This is often a matter of personal experience, and the methods used by different spiritual guides may vary.

However, if the reason for being born in this life is related to a past life, one may be more likely to remember it. This may not be a major issue, but rather a purpose or reason for being born in this life. Often, this purpose is something simple, such as wanting to travel abroad, wanting to live happily with a friend from a past life, or simply wanting to experience something new. Sometimes, people may decide to be born as a couple or as a parent-child relationship, and they may or may not remember this agreement. When one's consciousness is unclear, they may forget or fail to recall these memories. When one's consciousness is clear, they are more likely to remember and understand these things.

There are various factors that can influence the outcome, but fundamentally, whether or not you have memories, the basic results are not very different. However, it is true that the closer you get to a state of awakening, the more clearly your memories are maintained. So, there is a certain aspect where having memories is related to being closer to awakening. However, there are also cases where, even if you are far from awakening, you have many memories that need to be addressed, so it cannot be generalized.
