The inner child is the ego itself.

In spiritual discussions, the concept of the "inner child" often comes up, and it's often vaguely mentioned as "heal the wounds of the inner child," but there isn't much explanation, so it's open to various interpretations, and it's one of those spiritual terms that seems familiar but is often unclear.

The word "child" refers to a child, and it's often interpreted as referring to childhood wounds or trauma. However, I believe that the original meaning is actually the "ego" itself. After that, various people interpreted it, and various meanings and nuances were added, but I think that was the original meaning.

Since it's about "healing," there needs to be an actor (subject, who is doing it), and the question is, "who is healing?" According to the original meaning, the higher self heals the ego. This is also the same thing as the ego being absorbed by the higher self, just a different perspective and expression.

However, even if you read the original context, the subject (who is doing it) seems to be clear yet unclear. If you read it normally (rather than the interpretation that the higher self is healing), it can be interpreted as "the heart heals," "I heal," or "feelings heal," "heal with emotion," or "heal with love," among other things. This also shows a certain aspect, and it's not wrong, and it can be said to be correct, but it ends up being something other than the subject. The subject is the higher self that heals.

Even if you don't have much awareness of being the higher self, everyone has the awareness of the higher self to some extent, and you can heal the ego accordingly. However, if the subject is the higher self, that awareness will not appear unless you have a certain level of awareness of the higher self. Although there are differences in the degree of awareness and the amount/strength of energy, everyone can heal their ego.

Therefore, if the story of the "inner child" comes up in spiritual discussions, you can basically interpret it as "the higher self heals the ego (inner child)." Currently, the nuances are becoming more diverse depending on the school of thought and the person, but that is the basic idea.
