People who are on a spiritual path are generally not too worried, but there is a possibility that the connection between the body and consciousness may be severed. Humans are essentially connected from the beginning between their lower self (ego, jiva, self) and their higher self, but even so, if one excessively pursues the path of desire or neglects spirituality and burns out their mind, they may lose connection not only with higher consciousness but also with lower consciousness (the mind). If one lives in such a way, initially, only the connection with higher consciousness (the higher self) is lost, but if it is extremely severe, the body and consciousness may become separated. They may become out-of-body and unable to return to their body, and the body may become a state of simply repeating reactive behaviors.
I have observed such situations from the outside. One person seemed to be living a life of constant pleasure, always laughing. As a result, their mind began to deteriorate, and initially, they unexpectedly experienced out-of-body experiences. At first, they did not fully understand this and were somewhat bewildered, but they eventually returned to their body. That person seemed to have found the out-of-body experience interesting, or perhaps they thought it was amazing, and they experimented with it in various ways. Eventually, they thought that they could induce out-of-body experiences by shifting their consciousness, and they realized that if they intensified the stimulation of their pleasure-seeking life and filled their entire body with pleasure, they could induce out-of-body experiences. In reality, this is a dangerous thing, because the "connection" that binds the body and the out-of-body form was about to break, but people who are not familiar with the spiritual world do not notice this, and they continue to repeat the stimulation, suddenly laughing or making loud noises, and it seems that they were experiencing out-of-body experiences due to the shock and impact. One day, after experiencing out-of-body for fun, they suddenly felt like they were thrown away or blown away from their body. They didn't quite understand the situation, and they thought, "I'm done with this," and tried to return to their body, but a "barrier" like electricity was suddenly erected, and they were unable to return to their body. The aftermath was something else. When that person looked at their own body from the outside, they were speaking incomprehensible words to the people around them, and they looked like idiots. The people around them were laughing at that idiot.
■Becoming a complete idiot is a relatively rare case, even with mental disorders.
In this case, the soul has left the body, and nothing is residing within it. Therefore, the conscious mind (mind) that thinks has disappeared. Not only the higher consciousness, but also the normal thinking mind has disappeared, and the body has become an idiot. Surprisingly, the body seems to have continued to live for a while. In this case, the body is essentially discarded, and in reality, if the spirit is not completely destroyed, unknown spirits or wandering spirits may enter the empty body (although this is not very common, it does happen). However, in this case, because the spirit was completely destroyed, no one entered the body.
On the other hand, the consciousness that has separated from the body eventually gave up returning and wandered in the spiritual realm, becoming in the same position as ordinary deceased people.
Machines, of course, have no consciousness, but insects and most animals have some consciousness, although they do not have higher consciousness. While there are animals that can have higher consciousness, basically, only humans can have higher consciousness, and in that sense, animals and humans are fundamentally different. The ability to have consciousness is possible because the spirit is developed, and if that spirit is destroyed, consciousness cannot be established. Most animals do not have such a developed spirit, and often do not have much higher consciousness from the beginning, but they end up in the same state.
This explains the case where normal consciousness is destroyed and even the normal mind (thinking mind) of the conscious mind is disconnected. However, higher consciousness can also occur in more subtle ways. In order to connect with the higher self, a subtle spirit is necessary, and if you live a stimulating life, the spirit that connects to the higher self may be destroyed, so be careful.
If you live too stimulating a life, not only will you lose connection with the higher self, but even the normal mind (thinking mind) may become disconnected from the spirit, and you may become an idiot with the soul separated from the body and unable to return.
In reality, becoming an idiot like this is a relatively rare case, and in most cases, there is no need to worry too much. However, losing connection with the higher self is a relatively common occurrence, so if you are aiming for spiritual growth, it is better to be careful in your life.
Sudden out-of-body experiences due to shock are dangerous. Safe out-of-body experiences require a state of stillness and a lack of thoughts, and one must become consciously aware of their higher self. Furthermore, there is little need for out-of-body experiences (initially), and it is better not to seek them.
