Suddenly, I experienced a surreal, otherworldly dream during the daytime.

It was like a world of manga, anime, or even games, where in my everyday life, I would momentarily experience a "glitch" and my vision would switch to black and white or like a film negative. In anime, there are often things that happen afterward, but in my case, it's just that momentary change, and nothing particularly dramatic happens. However, a slight change I've noticed recently is that I often see a white shadow, like an afterimage, next to objects in my vision. It's just an afterimage, but since my vision has become clearer in recent years, I've been able to perceive finer details and movements. However, it's not just about the details or movement; I feel like I've become more aware of the way light interacts with things in my vision.

Some schools of thought incorporate this kind of perception into meditation techniques. When I experience this perception, it's different from before. Previously, I would clearly perceive objects and see fine details or observe movements. But recently, I've been seeing a white shadow, like a faint image, next to the object. It's white, so calling it a "shadow" might be misleading.

I think the afterimages and differences in focus that I've seen since I was young are different things. However, when I see an afterimage due to a difference in focus, it doesn't appear white. Especially when I look at black objects, they sometimes appear white, which makes me wonder. I remember hearing a long time ago that in visual perception, there's a concept called "complementary colors," and that afterimages correspond to complementary colors. The idea was that when you look at a certain color for a long time, your sensitivity to that color decreases, and when you look at something else, the complementary color appears as an afterimage. So, I sometimes think that the white I see might be due to the effect of complementary colors. However, what bothers me is that the shape is quite similar to the actual object, but the physical form is slightly different. Of course, it might just be the way my eyes work, but it's one of the interesting things I've been noticing recently. Seeing this doesn't necessarily mean anything significant. It's just a record.

When I do a little research, I find that black and white are not strictly complementary colors. However, there are also discussions suggesting that it might be interpreted that way. There seem to be various studies on this topic. There are also many different types of visual illusion experiments. I would like to investigate this further if I have the opportunity.
